
he pinhole camera is essentially a Camera Obscura (the same basic contraption Leonardo da Vinci would’ve used), though the version we use accepts 4"x 5" film. There’s no lens or shutter, just a tiny hole and piece of wood to move up and down to make the exposure. Exposures can take a few seconds or a few minutes. It takes a lot of experience to make a photograph without having a viewfinder to look through. It’s wide angle and long exposures deliver images that are painterly and unique.
